Chat with Pulse

Start and organise Pulse conversations, choose the AI model for a chat, and copy, quote, export or retry answers once your AI key is connected.

Chat is where you ask Pulse questions, draft text and think things through. Open it from Chat in the Pulse sidebar or at pulse.oroe.ai/chat.

Note Chat runs on your own AI key. If you see Connect your AI model to start chatting, select Add your API key first. See Choose and connect AI models.

Start a conversation

  1. Select New Chat at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Type your message in Ask Pulse anything…
  3. Press Enter to send. Use Shift+Enter to add a new line.

While Pulse works, a status line shows what it’s doing, for example Thinking… or Writing the answer, with a timer. Select Stop to end the answer early.

Tip To answer from your own files, switch on Documents in the chat header. See Cited answers.

Choose the model for a conversation

Each conversation uses your chat default unless you pick something else.

  1. Select the Model: button in the chat header.
  2. In Model for this conversation, choose a model, or Use the workspace default.
  3. Select Use this model.

To change the default for all your chats, go to Settings → AI connections. See Choose and connect AI models.

Work with answers

Under each answer you’ll find:

  • Copy puts the answer on your clipboard.
  • Export downloads the answer as Markdown (.md) or Plain text (.txt).
  • Retry asks for the answer again.

More ways to keep going:

  • Quote a passage. Select text in an answer, then choose Quote in reply. The quote appears above the message box. Select the X to remove it.
  • Follow-up suggestions. Under the newest answer, Ask next offers questions you might want to ask. Select one to use it.
  • Code. Code blocks have their own Copy button.

Organise your conversations

Your conversations are listed in the sidebar, newest under Recent. They’re saved to your account, so you can pick them up on any device.

To manage a conversation, select ⋯ (Conversation options) on its row, or right-click it:

  • Rename changes its title.
  • Move to Group puts it in a group. You can create a group from the same dialog. Grouped conversations appear under their group’s heading in the sidebar.
  • Delete removes it.

You can also rename or delete the open conversation with the pencil and bin buttons in the header.

Note Deleting a conversation can’t be undone.

Tidy up the screen

  • Select Collapse sidebar at the bottom of the sidebar for more room. Pulse remembers your choice in this browser.
  • On a phone, open the sidebar with the menu button at the top left.

What chat can and can’t do

Chat is good at answering questions, explaining, summarising and drafting text. It can also answer from the documents you choose, with citations.

Good to know If your chat model supports tools, chat can also read a few things from your other modules, such as your Cue business details and appointments. Settings → Modules lists what Pulse can read and do in each module. For everything else, such as your full contact list, your inbox or your monitors, go to those modules. Chat doesn’t search the web.
